Delmark Day & Masterclass Series: Honoring the Blues
Through a Music In Action grant from Live Music Society, FVMF partnered with Delmark Records, one of the oldest and most well-respected independent blues/jazz recording labels in the country. Each Delmark Day and Masterclass event brings together world-class artists, rising stars, and devoted fans to celebrate the living tradition of blues music, which is at the core of Fox Valley Music Foundation's musical identity and origins. Past events have included masterclass instruction from Sheryl Youngblood, Bob Stroger, and Billy Flynn, with performances by veteran artists Demetria Taylor, Bob Stroger & Friends, and up-and-coming groups Patch of Blues and Knott Us Band.​

The Delmark Day & Masterclass Series is designed to enrich the Fox Valley community by addressing key needs in mentorship, skill-building, networking, and collaborative learning within the music community. While masterclasses are traditionally more prevalent in classical music, this program addresses a significant gap by offering high-quality jazz and blues-focused masterclasses, filling a vital need for exploring these culturally important musical genres.

This program also promotes community cohesion by creating inclusive spaces where individuals of diverse backgrounds can come together to learn about and celebrate music. Engaging with music fosters creative thinking, discipline, and leadership skills, all of which contribute to personal and community growth. Jazz and blues music, with their rich cultural and historical significance, serve as powerful tools for bridging generational and cultural divides, further strengthening the overall sense and value of community.
